First Podcast: Information Security 101, Part One
|
We have started to provide podcasts on information security and privacy. The first one is just a simple "proof of concept" effort, a basic 27 minute audio introduction to information security. There is a short set of slides that can be viewed in conjunction with the podcast, but the podcast will still make sense without them. Download the slides here. (Microsoft PowerPoint PPS format) |
Podcast #2, The Privacy Meter, is now online. Click here for Privacy Meter slides (in Microsoft PowerPoint PPS format). To subscribe to our podcasts with services like iTunes or RSS, click here. ![]()

4th Annual Enterprise Security Asia:
The keynote address at this event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was presented by Stephen Cobb. This was his tenth speaking trip to Asia since 1996 and his second visit to Kuala Lumpur. The conference site is here. An Adobe PDF of the conference brochure is here. Many thanks to Andrea, Christopher, Dyanna, and Jin Yin of AC-Nergy for their hospitality, and to chairpersons Michael Mudd of CompTIA and Stan Singh of PIKOM (the Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia)
Keynote Slides are here (Microsoft Powerpoint PPS format).
Currently enjoying strong economic growth, Malaysia is America's tenth largest trading partner and probably one of the world's most ethnically diverse countries. That made for a very interesting session on business privacy.
Privacy Session Slides are here (Microsoft Powerpoint PPS format).
Interop Moscow:
Our trip to Interop Moscow 2006 was interesting to say the least. The organizers had managed to put a whole gaggle of American and Europe security names were on the agenda, including Winn Schwartau and Kevin Mitnick. Stephen chose to talk about dataflation, the idea that seemingly endless rounds of security breaches are exposing ever larger quantities of personal data, with potentially serious consequences for electronic commerce, the wider economy, and society at large.

Speaking of speaking:
We are happy to supply or help you identify speakers on all aspects of information security to help you further the goal of educating all segments of society, and all sectors of business, on information security issues and challenges. Note that for independent security experts time is money and it is normal for them to charge a fee for speaking, plus travel expenses.
